📋 Step D: Catalog Integrity + Auto-Tiering
🏗️ Philosophy: Retrieval Without Scanning
The catalog is our warehouse index. Every bottle needs exactly one address, sequences never collide, and tiering decisions are deterministic.
5.1 Address Integrity
Every bottle has exactly one catalog entry; address fields match (tenant/tier/time_bucket/sequence)
5.2 Sequence Integrity
Sequences increment correctly within tenant+time_bucket; no collisions under parallel writes
5.3 Listing Performance
List "latest 50" via catalog; confirm query uses index fields (tenant_id, tier, time_bucket, sequence)
5.4 Access Tracking
access_count increments; last_accessed_at updates correctly on retrieval
5.5 Auto-Tiering
Create bottle → access N times → verify tier promotion; leave untouched → verify tier demotion

📦 Step D: Catalog Integrity & Auto-Tiering

Philosophy: The catalog is a warehouse index. No table scans needed.

What we're testing:

  • Every bottle has exactly one catalog entry
  • Address format matches: tenant/tier/time_bucket/sequence
  • Sequences never collide under parallel writes
  • Listing via catalog doesn't degrade (uses indexes)
  • Access tracking increments correctly
  • Auto-tiering promotes/demotes based on usage

Goal: Prove catalog lookups are O(1) and tiering is deterministic.
