📋 Step C: Error Handling & Resilience
🛡️ Philosophy: Fail Fast, Fail Clear
Systems that handle errors well inspire confidence. Validate inputs, return actionable errors, prevent cascading failures.
4.1 Missing Required Parameters
Verify functions reject requests with missing required fields
4.2 Non-existent Resources
Verify graceful handling of invalid memory IDs (NOT_FOUND errors)
4.3 Malformed Data
Test handling of wrong data types, empty arrays, invalid formats
4.4 Processing Without Prerequisites
Verify pipeline ordering: can't ingest/embed without extraction
4.5 Graceful Degradation
Test minimal valid data handling - system should work, not break
4.6 Error Message Quality
Verify error messages are clear, actionable, and informative
🛡️ Step C: Error Handling & Resilience
Philosophy: Fail fast, fail clear, never cascade.
What we're testing:
- Missing parameters → clear rejection messages
- Non-existent resources → NOT_FOUND errors
- Malformed data → validation catches bad inputs
- Wrong processing order → pipeline enforces prerequisites
- Minimal valid data → graceful degradation, no breaks
- Error messages → informative and actionable
Goal: System should never crash silently. Every error should guide users toward resolution.
